王世伟本科毕业于香港科技大学,硕士和博士毕业于新加坡的南洋理工大学。曾担任新加坡科技研究局(ASTAR)研究员,2010年回国后担任华南理工大学电信学院的副教授,之后晋升华南理工大学电信学院的教授。目前是深圳大学电子与信息工程学院的全职长聘教授。
统计至2024年10月,王世伟发表学术论文超过300余篇,其中IEEE期刊论文超过100篇,谷歌引用超过5100次,H-因子36,获授权发明专利超过70项,美国专利一项。2021至2024年入选美国斯坦福大学John P.A. Loannidis教授团队发布全球2%顶尖科学家榜单(年度科学影响力排行榜),中国教育部新世纪优秀人才获得者,深圳市孔雀高层次人才C类。主持国家自然科学基金项目和省市级项目多项。
